Woodland Ways
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the iOS and Android app Woodland Ways handles data. The publisher is Hsu Wen-Hsun. For support and privacy questions, contact 17apphouse@gmail.com.
Data collection and sharing
The developer does not collect, receive, or share player data through this app. The game requires no account and uses no advertising, analytics tracking, or remote crash-reporting service. It does not send game data to a developer-operated server. The app does not access your location, camera, microphone, photos, or contacts.
Data stored on your device
The app stores your unfinished boards and undo history, final boards for completed puzzles, move counts, answer assistance and previews, restart counts, completion markers, level progress, best scores, stamps, collection, woodland layout, chosen goals, and display preferences (day/night theme and compatibility mode). It also stores offline-generated puzzles, play history, and the order of recently opened puzzles so you can resume play and avoid duplicate puzzles. This data is used only for game features and to display your achievements.
Saving and recovery
Your journey is saved after valid actions and when the app goes into the background. The local save is loaded when you reopen the app. Completed puzzles keep only the final board; their undo history is not retained after reopening. A failed write prompts you to retry. If a save cannot be recognized or can only be partly restored, the original data is preserved while the app waits for you to confirm rebuilding it. Saves are not guaranteed to be recoverable after device failure, storage failure, or data deletion.
System backups and device transfers
The app provides no developer-operated cloud sync or save import/export. Depending on your operating system and settings, local data may be included in device backups or transfers. These features are provided by the system; the developer cannot access or manage your system backups. Manage backups through your device settings.
Data retention and deletion
Local data is retained for future play. On Android, you can clear this app’s storage or data in system settings. On iOS, Delete App removes the app and its local data; offloading the app while keeping its data does not clear the save. Copies in system backups must be managed separately through system settings. Clearing or deleting data may make progress unrecoverable. An old save may reappear if you restore a system backup.
Support email and privacy contact
If you choose to email 17apphouse@gmail.com, the publisher receives your sender email address, the message, and any attachments you provide. This information is used only to handle support or privacy inquiries and is retained for resolving the issue and follow-up contact, not for advertising or tracking. You can use the same address to request deletion of support email data related to your correspondence.
Contacting the publisher does not automatically share the game save on your device. The publisher cannot remotely read or delete your local progress. The methods for deleting local data and system backups are described above.
This website
If you choose to open the public policy link from the app, your system browser displays the page. The link contains no game save, progress, or player identifier. The browser and hosting service process the technical information needed for a normal web connection.
The policy and support pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. They include no advertising, analytics code, JavaScript, or external images or fonts. When you visit these pages, GitHub logs connection IP addresses for security purposes. This is separate from the app’s local game save and is governed by the GitHub Privacy Statement.
Policy updates
If the app’s data-handling practices change, this policy and the date above will be updated. The public policy URL is https://iamshun.github.io/woodland-ways-privacy/en/.
